However, if you are crazy about cinema and crosswords at the same time, this puzzle is a rare gem that you should not miss. The main theme is about a character in a movie who is stuck in an endless loop.

Actually, the grid itself is somehow drowned in a loop; there are four clues with one answer! Let’s jump into NYT Crossword analysis of Feb. 2 to see whether we can put an end to the loop or not!

My first encounter with the loop occurs in 20-Across: “Cult classic co-starring Bill Murray and Andie MacDowell.” As you guessed correctly, it solves to GROUNDHOGDAY. This movie is about Phil Connors, a weatherman who is trapped in a time loop on Feb. 2.

It was an easy question for me and then I went to the rest of the clues. Again, at 33-Across, I face the second layer of the loop: “Inspiration for a 2017 Tony-nominated musical.” As you might have guessed, the answer is GROUNDHOGDAY, a musical version of the film which premiered in 2016.

41-Across is the third phase of the loop: “1993 film that featured “I Got You Babe.” Every day in GROUNDHOGDAY, Bill wakes up to I Got You Babe playing on the radio.

Finally, 56-Across is the last clue that solves to GROUNDHOGDAY and then the loop stops. You are free to leave the “Groundhog” while you are a better person by solving the NYT Crossword of Feb 2 (I don’t know how, it was a nice allusion to the film and I just want to mention it!).

Today’s NYT Crossword is a treat for movie buffs. By using Groundhog Day as a recurring answer, the grid itself traps the solver in a clever loop. From the 1993 cult classic to the 2017 musical, the puzzle pays a perfect tribute to Phil Connors’ infinite February 2nd. It’s a rare gem that reminds us: the goal is always to emerge a little bit better than you started.

Did you feel like you were seeing double (or quadruple) today? Which GROUNDHOG DAY clue did you fill in first? Let me know your solving time in the comments, just make sure you don’t post it twice!

If you need the answers for daily crossword puzzles like the NYT Crossword or the NYT Mini, make sure to check Daze Puzzle every day to find the solutions you need in record time.

Today’s NYT Crossword is truly a fresh and delicious starter for a crossword lover.
