Tips and Tricks to Solve Jumbles Without Cheating

Absolutely we love it when you use our tool but we also want you to train your brain! Next time you are staring at a jumbled word, try these tricks before hitting the Search button:

1. Grouping Consonants

Consonants like CH, SH, PH, and TH usually comes together. For example your letters are I-S-P-H. Now you should put S and H together first. Suddenly the word SHIP reveals itself clearly.

2. Find the Suffixes First

Common endings like ING, ED, ERS or EST are easy to spot. Separate them from the group and the main word will appear. For example you have S-G-I-F-H-N-I. Pull out I-N-G. You are left with S-F-H-I. Now combine S-H (grouping tip). You get FISH + ING = FISHING.

3. Look for Prefixes

Just like suffixes, check the beginning of the word. Common prefixes include RE, EX, UN and PRE. When you remove these, the remaining letters are easier to unscramble.

4. Separate Vowels

The skeleton of the word usually shape around A, E, I, O, U.

5. The Circle Trick

Take your pen and draw a big circle on a paper. Now, write the letters randomly in it. This breaks your brain pattern and allows you to think differently. So much better that look at the letters in a line.
