Scrabble is the grandfather of all word game. Here, chance is not more important than strategy. Have you ever had the perfect letters but didn’t know where to put them? Or conversely, got stuck with letters like Q and Z? Our Scrabble Word Finder doesn’t just find words for you, it gives you the best move based on points and the position on the board. We use official dictionaries to be sure your word is valid.

How to Use Our Scrabble Solver?

Using this tool is simple but powerful. Type all the letters you have on your rack into the search box. (Up to 15 letters allowed). If you want to link your word to a specific letter on the screen, use the “Starts with” or “Ends with” options. You can also choose the dictionary. This is an important difference!

Choose the Right Scrabble Dictionary

One of the biggest mistakes of players is using the wrong dictionary. A word that is valid in US, may have none in UK!

Scrabble US/Canada: If you live in the US or Canada, this is your standard tournament dictionary. It is a bit stricter and has removed offensive words.

Scrabble UK: If you play in the UK, Australia or anywhere else in the world, this is your dictionary. This list is more comprehensive and accepts more words.

Score 50 Bonus Points with a Bingo

In other games like Words With Friends, the bonus to finish letters is 35 points. But in Scrabble the king of points is 50 which is called “Bingo”. To get that, you should not just think about the long words. You should have Rack Management. Try to keep letters like N, I, R, E and S. These letters act like glue and increase the chance of making 7-Letter words.

Scrabble Tile Tracking and Counting

There are exactly 100 tiles in Scrabble. Knowing what’s left is the key to winning:

Only one “Q, Z, J, X”: If your opponent has played the letter Z, you can safely open the game because there is no longer a Z to bother you.

“S” tiles are gold: There are only 4 of them in the entire game. Don’t waste them on 4 or 5 points! Keep them to hook onto your opponent’s word and get the points for yourself.

Blank Tiles: There are 2 blanks on the board which have no points but a big strategic value.

Scrabble 2-Letter Words

The length is not always the key. Sometimes a 2-Letter word on a TW (Triple Word) tile can give you 50 points. Learn these words:

aa, ab, ad, ae, ag, ah, ai, al, am, an, ar, as, at, aw, ax, ay, ba, be, bi, bo, by, da, de, do, ed, ef, eh, el, em, en, er, es, et, ex, fa, fe, gi, go, ha, he, hi, hm, ho, id, if, in, is, it, jo, ka, ki, la, li, lo, ma, me, mi, mm, mo, mu, my, na, ne, no, nu, od, oe, of, oh, oi, ok, om, on, op, or, os, ow, ox, oy, pa, pe, pi, po, qi, re, sh, si, so, ta, te, ti, to, uh, um, un, up, us, ut, we, wo, xi, xu, ya, ye, yo, and za.

Win with Defensive Scrabble Strategy

Don’t just attack! Defense is also a strategy. If you can’t get a high score, at least don’t let the opponent do that:

Block the Bonus Tiles: If you can’t reach the “triple word” tile, place a word that blocks your opponent’s access to it.

Avoid opening the board: If your opponent has strong letters, keep the game closed and make short words so he/she has no room to maneuver.

FAQs

1. What is the highest scoring Scrabble word?

Theoretically, the word “OXYPHENBUTAZONE” could have the most points but in the history of the competition, the word “CAZIQUES” holds the record with a score of 392.

2. Can I play words with Q but no U?

Yes. Words like QI, QAT, QAID, QINTAR are accepted in the official dictionary and are essential for times when you don’t have a U.

3. How many people can play Scrabble at once?

The traditional board game of Scrabble is designed for 2 to 4 players. You can’t play alone (except for practice). In official tournaments and apps like Scrabble Go, two players play heads-up to increase speed and strategy.

4. Which Scrabble tiles carry the highest points?

The letters Q and Z are the most powerful tiles in the game. Each of these letters is worth 10 points on its own. If you can place them on the TW tiles, you can completely change the score of the game in your favor. After these two, the letters J and X are next with 8 points.

5. When does a Scrabble game officially end?

The game ends when the bag of letters is empty and one player has used all the letters remaining on their rack. At this point, the game stops and the final scoring begins. The game also ends if none of the players can form a word (the board is completely blocked).
